NEW INTERVIEW: Our first interview with ONLY MACHINES REMAIN (Brisbane / Ipswich, Australia Modern Metal), 13/10/2015, by Collin Brophy

Only Machines Remains Interview

Q. Collin Brophy: How is everyone in Only Machines Remain family?

A. Well we've known each other for a long time and we bond with metal, alcohol and insulting each other every chance we get. Everyone is familiar with everyone and we gel greatly as a result.

Q. Can you give me a brief history of the band?

A. Well, we we've known each other for a long time, all of us have been in our own bands respectively up until around October last year 2014. Tyler (guitarist) and Rob (bassist) were in a band together, whilst I and Jordan (drummer) were in another band. When I was asked to join Tyler and Rob’s band last year I jumped at it but there was something missing. We broke away from our old ties and set for something new and refreshing. Myself and Tyler have written about 10-13 songs in a few months and are ready to unleash them for everyone.

Q. How do you describe your style?

A. Well, within metal I’d like to say we take our styles from our highly influential bands like Parkway Drive, Lamb  of God and Trivium to name a few. We aim to always keep it fast and heavy with good melody and brutal breakdowns because who doesn’t love brutal breakdowns right?

Q. What bands do you like / influence your style?

A. Definitely bands such as Parkway Drive, Lamb of God, Trivium, Machine Head, Thy art is murder, Pantera, Devildriver, those are the main ones.

Q. Can you tell us about the metal scene from where you are from?

A. We stem from the Brisbane metal scene along with a dead Ipswich scene unfortunately. It is good here, over our short careers we've met and played with amazing bands and people who always are willing to help out and support.

Q. How did you guys come up with the band name?

A. Well after a drunken night out we decided to fight some Robots for their best and finest whiskey, after about an hour of fighting they decided to give us a glass of it in return for one of Tyler’s guitars, we wholeheartedly agreed. When we drank it Machine Head was playing in the background and we noticed the drink was spiked. We woke up naked in the desert bald with a note saying "Only Machines Remain". The Rest is History.

Q. When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together?

A. We formed around March/April this year 2015, but I, Tyler and Rob were in a previous band together. We liked the music we were playing but there was just something missing from our sound so we parted ways with our old drummer and vocalist. Heading straight out of writers block Tyler and myself pushed out plenty of songs to keep us going and our heads banging.

Q. How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?

A. Well we are up on soundcloud at (https://soundcloud.com/user-340668676) Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaFR6epr8_F-t-YCL6zHJAg)
Reverbnation (https://www.reverbnation.com/onlymachinesremain?profile_view_source=header_icon_nav) and of course on Facebook
(Facebook.com/onlymachinesremain)

Q. Favourite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?

A. Well as a band favourite it would have to be good old Chardy's corner or as it is now known The Backroom, have had some of the best time there, easy going staff great venue and always have treated the bands with respect as well as helping keep local music thriving.

Q. Any Last Words.

A. Be sure to keep an eye out for new tunes soon as we are currently recording and putting out songs frequently. Our latest single is out now called "Auschwitz Antichrist". Finally, support your local scene! See you soon.
